Miss Handling Cat Paws

This is Buffy da Bampire Flayer. If she weren't all tired out from flaying bampires she would flay me with her many claws. So, whilst she sleeps, let's take a look at her polydactyl paws.

Cats Home Alone!

Leaving us home alone to fend for ourselves, some would say is unconscionable. But, we were not entirely alone as Neighbor Girl and the Monk came to visit for a while each day.

Yes, that meant we didn't get to see Mom, but that was fine with me as she had taken my new little princess with her, the one that Spyder is calling Sissy. I have not deigned to give her a proper name, yet. Unkind of me? No, it must be a carefully thought out process.

I was able to get in some valuable beauty sleep and escape the ravages and energy of my little princess. Bless her young innocent heart. I miss her while she is away with Mom, but truly she is a paw full. Even with my faithful minion, Ninja and loyal young boycat, Spyder, to give her attention, it can be exhausting to play chase with her all day. I'm sure you know what I mean if you have ever had a young kitten in your home.

I have some wonderful pictures that my dear liege, Ninja, has taken of me in my various stages of repose. I'm sure you can see how well rested this royal purrsonage looks. The first is on Mom's pillow while she is away. The second is under the lamp. I stay there when it automatically illuminates. And, of course, when The Monk is here, I've got the best place in the house! He looks so happy to love me. Doesn't he?

Grumpy Cats

Everybody grumpy today. Queen Bambi grumpy. I grumpy. Miss E grumpy. Ninja most grumpy of all. It not my fault. Really, not me did it. I swares! We was running round da house same as uzual, having fun, Queen Bambi and me. Mr. grumpy Ninja was sleepin' by da bookshelp. We wasn't being quiet, but Ninja, he can sleep through ennyfing. Him always say him meditating, but I fink snoring not a mantra. Right? Is I right?

Ennyhow, I chase Bambi cross da back ov da sofa and she knock down all da pillows was up there, and one jump over and smack Ninja. Just then him look up, and me, I running cross da bookshelp and books fall down all beside Ninja, and he jump on top ov da books. Then Miss E come in da room and see Ninja and da mess ov books all over. She dint see me and Bambi cos by this time, we hiding unner da sofa. So Miss E fink Ninja knock down da books and tell him he a bad boy. And Ninja dont lyke that. Now him all grumpy.

Not my fault him sleeping right there by them books! Queen Bambi say we gots ta stay away from him coz he givving da Eebil Eye. Him look scarey when him grumpy don'tcha fink so?

Bed Partners

,
He snores beside me
that butterball I love,
waking me from dead sleep.

My black cat, Ninja,
with big claws
and buck tooth yawn,

I jiggle him.
He looks at me
those golden eyes.

Annoyed, he rolls
on his side
and begins to snore
again.

A Three Cat Night

It was a three cat night...
By guest Author, John Rahn

Living in South Florida it doesn't get really cold that often.  But recently we had a couple of very cold nights.

I pretty much refuse to turn on the heat (aaarrgghh I really hate furnace air) as it doesn't get that cold in this house unless the wind is blowing pretty good outta the north.

I went to bed this night after several hours of working at the computer.

Cosmo was snoozing happily in his spot atop the big monitor, where it was nice and warm. My Dusty cat was curled up in the comforter folded up on the couch, and Oreo, being the child of the pride, was just plain working off young energy (or working up heat energy) running back and forth through the house, 'chirping' like crazy.
I turned the monitors off, got up from the desk and slid in behind Dusty on the couch (she refused to move an inch).

I carefully eased the comforter from underneath her and covered us both up.  She snuggled in against me, purring very happily. I pulled the comforter up to my chin and drifted off to sleep, just Dusty and I on the couch.

At five o'clock I woke up to the alarm, and it was by then quite chilly in the house. Trying to sit up to hit the snooze button, I discovered that all three cats were not just on the couch WITH me, but they were all on the couch ON me, and not very happy that I had to move from underneath them.

Think this means I need to turn on the heat?
