Ninja the News Reporter

We saw on the TV where a lost dog was found. Of course, dogs get found every day. But, this was a bit different.

In Sacramento almost 3 years ago there was a terrific winter storm. The winds were so strong it blew down fences. With the fences blown down some doggies escaped.

Bambi says she wishes they had not been left outside in the storm in the first place. But, I have reminded her that maybe their purrsons were not at home before the storm started. And we shouldn't judge.

One of the doggies was found right after the storm. But sadly, the other one had disappeared. It is a good thing the lost dog had a microchip because he was found in a shelter today a long way from home. The doggie's microchip was up to date. The doggie's purrsons, address and phone number were still accurate. And so they are all now re-united!

Nobody but the doggie knows where he has been all this time, or how he got so far away from home. Maybe he's a ninja like me and had a secret job to do and this is his cover story. Maybe the storm picked him up and has been carrying him around on a cloud so he could travel the world. Wouldn't that be cool?

Now Miss E is digging through her papers looking for our microchip files to be sure everything is up to date. Since we are inside cats, I don't think she has to worry too much, but if there is a bad storm and a window were to be broken, or if there is a bad earthquake, we might escape and be lost, just like that doggie. So, I am so glad we are all microchipped!

Ninja's Favorite Human Ninja

Hi, It's me Ninja. Everyone around here thinks my Martial Arts interests have going into hibernation. I didn't spend the first 8 years of my life (48 in human time) studying with those two fine Sensei teachers of mine, the Honorable Shi Tzu and Honorable Akita, to throw it away in my old age.

I found this video of a modern ninja. you can tell he has good Martial Arts training and he is almost as good as a ninja cat. But, not quite. You will get dizzy in the end watching this, but it is worth it. Bambi and Spyder are very impressed

This video is not accompanied by sound, and that's good. Keep your focus on the ninja!

Happy Birthday!

It my Birfday! I is one year old now! I o-fish-aly not a kitten no more. Now I am a grown Boy Cat! I so prowld of myself!

Ninja say He prowld of me too, that I growing up so good.

Bambi says next year I be a ManCat!

It seem so strange. Seem lyke yestidday I was just a liddle baby kitten.

In Praise of Cat Hair

All your wondrous wealth of hair,

Dark and fair,

Silken-shaggy, soft and bright

As clouds and beams of night,

Pays my reverent hand's caress

Back with friendlier gentleness.

From: "To a Cat"

by Algernon Charles Swinburne

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Commentary by HRH Queen Bambi
This gentleman poet from England at the turn of the last century certainly had an excellent appreciation of cats and knowledge our fur is that beyond many humans. His understanding of the magical quality of cat hair is obvious with his term of reverence in relation to his hand touching cat hair.
By looking at a picture of him, it appears he has an abundant head of hair, himself. Perhaps in one of his past lives he was a Persian!
Cat Books
Miss E and the Monk went to the Capitola Book Cafe to trade in some old un-interesting books, and came back with a shelf full of Cat Books!!!
Now that's what I call a good trade off! Wouldn't you say so?
I wouldn't be a good Ninja Warrior Cat if I didn't take my job seriously. So, I am guarding these valuable cat books from thieves.
There's going to be good summer reading around here! Some of the titles to the books are:
50 Games to Play With Your Cat
Teaching Your Cat Simple Tricks
The Cat Whisperer: The Secret of How to Talk to Your Cat
Angel Cats: Divine Messengers of Comfort
The Cat Bible: Everything Your Cat Expects You to Know
Edu-cat
We sit in the window
Bambi and I.
Ninja naps on the bed.
"Drosophila melanogaster,” she says,
“not be confused
with Tephritidae, the true fruit fly."
I stare, fascinated.
Bambi is an entomologist.
Ninja yawns,
turns over,
"A bug.. is a bug.. is a bug!"
He stretches.
"Now, dogs...
on the other paw,
...much more interesting."
Bambi flicks her ears.
"Take those yappers next door, for example.
Just scratch the screen, my boy,
and watch what happens!"
Bambi's whiskers vibrate.
"Go ahead, scratch the screen!"
I reach out...
Bambi quivers, "Spyder! Look!"
I paws.
I've never seen
such a flitter flutter before.
I can't help myself... I chirp.
"Lepidoptera!
Yes, I do believe...
Epiphyas postvittana.
First one of the season,
not good for apples, they say."
I wonder what kind
of insect is an apple.
Ninja snores.
